Job Description

Our client is one of Australia's largest, publicly listed waste management company. With over 4,000 employees in more than 200 locations across Australia, they work with a diverse range of customers from small businesses through to government agencies and large multi-national clients.

The Field Sales Manager is responsible for the management, achievement and development of a key team of Territory Managers and support personnel within their defined Region. Responsibility covers new business achievement and full existing customer account management of non key account customer revenue plus retention and profitability focus for all services provided plus customer service and satisfaction, ensuring service delivery with operational excellence.


  • Manage Team of Territory Managers of effectively sell services in their designated territory / portfolio to achieve growth targets.
  • Ensure the sales tea, is making referrals to the other divisions for other products and services and are working cooperatively with Technical / Solid Sales to attain revenue growth.
  • Implement strategies, plan and resources to ensure corporate governance.
  • Communicate organisational and strategic goals and objects into a workable sales plan.
  • Ongoing management of the team's Opportunity Pipeline, representing all services as per the personal objectives and regional sales targets.
  • Prepare and submit regular market intelligence, tender activity and computer activity reports.
  • Deliver the highest standard in professional conduct, personal presentation and company image.

Skills & Experience Needed

  • Strong knowledge of solid waste and recycling industry or associated industries processes
  • Significant experience in commercial / industry business to business sales
  • Financial / Commercial knowledge
  • Significant experience in converting prospects / quotes to profitable new business of developing existing customers to maximise organic revenue
  • Proven account manager of existing customers to enable ongoing retention and growth of services to a large customer base.
  • Ability to utilise interpersonal and sales skills at multiple levels to maximise sales.
  • Strong sales and business development and customer focus skills
  • Ability to manage time am comporting priorities effectively
  • Excellent negotiation and conflict management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation and proposal development skills
  • Tertiary education within the areas of business, marketing and sales
