About the business and the role
Our client is seeking a motivated, proactive individual who has the drive to succeed in this competitive industry sector, along with solid hands-on industry knowledge and proven experience with tendering, sales, relationship management and negotiating and implementing technically complex project logistics.
In this key senior level role you will report directly to the National Sales Manager, and will be ultimately responsible for active relationship management and growth of the major account portfolio assigned to you.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead generation through referrals, cold calling, eye balling
  • Meetings with potential new business clients to understand their logistical needs and to provide overall solutions.
  • Follow-up all leads and opportunities promptly.
  • Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Understand competitor's strengths and weaknesses
  • Negotiate with suppliers / carriers for the best possible result
  • Account management of new and existing clients

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have experience in tendering processes, preparation of contract documents, contract execution and successful contract management;
  • Have a high level of interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders;
  • Be an experienced negotiator;
  • Be an excellent communicator with an ability to present and convey messages concisely and persuasively;
  • Have a high degree of commercial acumen with the ability to recognize and optimize issues and identify key risk areas;
  • Have the ability to identify key issues, priorities tasks and resolve problems under pressure;
  • Have a professional manner with personal integrity and high ethical standards;
  • Be able to demonstrate a strong history of sales and account management success across the transport and MCOG industry;

  • Have experience in a similar role with a strong understanding of freight operations in both rail and road.
