Our key client:

Is a market leader within their niche space in the building materials industry, who design supply and install a range of aesthetically pleasing interior products. They have a strong record in quality and after service, with a fun and all welcoming team. Recent projects stretch from tier 1 commercial buildings, education, retail and new hospitals. Recently they have undergone new developments and have grown substantially with more than 50% market share in Victoria. An opportunity has now been created for an experienced, hands on and technically focused Technical Sales & Estimating Manager to join their VIC team


This is a unique role with no direct reports that has with many different facets. Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Support for Sales Estimating Managers and Representatives
  • Assisting Specifiers (i.e. Architects, Interior Designers and Consultants)
  • Ensuring proposals meet the specific needs of the client and are cost effective against competitors.
  • Preparing high quality proposals on time.
  • Key contact for all major tenders and general enquiries.
  • Ensure all quoting documentation is reviewed prior to the due date and obtain any missing information required to accurately quote each project (through RFI's)
  • Estimate and Quote complex and non-standard design products
  • Read and interpret architectural plans and specifications and liaise with Architect where required
  • Ensure excellent knowledge of all quoting tools and products timeframes nominated
  • Utilise the BCI / Bid Contender programs / platforms to capture the project tendering builders (as required) and proactive sales opportunities (project leads
  • Review and analyse tender specifications, drawings and relevant conditions where necessary

Candidate Experience:

  • Internal Technical Sales / Estimating experience in the building materials industry - min 5 years
  • Highly capable in reading and interpreting intricate commercial architectural plans and specifications
  • Exposure in tendering for large commercial projects
  • Sound personal presentation
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills
  • Effective written presentation skills
  • Confident phone manner and ability to communicate with a broad range of clientele i.e. from Builders and Architects to End Users
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at once
  • Ability to create a positive team environment, where all team members feel valued
  • Although not a pre-requisite, candidates that have worked with products such as roofing, cladding, acoustic / composite panels, masonry, glazing / windows, louvres, partitioning, doors, lighting, retaining walls, insulated panels, ceilings or other related technical building materials will be of high interest
